The Gotthard tunnel was temporarily closed. The tunnel is now open again, but traffic is still backed up about 12 kilometers south and 3 kilometers north.

In the meantime, the waiting time amounted to up to three hours, the vehicles were backed up over a length of 20 kilometers.
The situation eased slightly over the course of Saturday morning. Shortly after 9 a.m., the TCS traffic service reported on Twitter that the waiting time in front of the north portal was just over two hours.

A few minutes later, however, the tunnel had to be closed again due to a breakdown vehicle. The A13 via San Bernardino is recommended as an alternative route.
