Patrick Timsit and Pascal Elbé, producers: this “pretext” they found to “have fun” together

Patrick Timsit and Pascal Elbé have teamed up with producer Patrick Holzman to launch a label, Lovelymess, which aims to produce romantic comedies. Explanations.

Lovely mess. A beautiful mess. This sums up perfectly what Patrick Timsit and Pascal Elbé want, associated with producer Patrick Holzman. “It’s an excuse to stay all three together and have fun“, concedes moreover Patrick Timsit. Together, the three men launched a label – entitled Lovelymess, therefore – which has for aim to develop romantic comedies French. It was during the La Rochelle TV fiction festival that the three friends detailed their project. “We will produce eight films around a main theme which is the second life and the second chance. We will ask ourselves sensitive, comical or just absurd questions about the evolution of romantic relationships in our society.“, then detailed Patrick Holzman, specifying that “it will be nourished by experience.“Especially, the three men who believe that”this genre has been out of steam for a few years“and that we have”more than ever need to talk about loveintend to make it something premium.

Each film will have its cast. And the three men hope to bring together big names. With the argument of the very specific format of the films that will make up this collection. These will indeed last between 42 and 60 minutes and are intended for television. “I do not see which actress or which actor would refuse a film which will be shot in a short time“, believes Patrick Timsit, who launches in a burst of laughter that they also opted for this format because “our ages, we can’t do more.” “Sometimes it feels like a movie can be sluggish. Whereas this format allows us to go to the end of an idea without exhausting it“, retorts, more seriously, Pascal Elbé, who puts forward the name of Karin Viard among those potentially interested in appearing in the casting of one of the episodes of this collection.

What will this collection of romantic comedy films look like?

In addition to their producer cap, Patrick Timsit and Pascal Elbe will they be showing? It is not impossible but the two actors instantly specify that this will not be the case on all films. A call for projects for these works will be launched on October 20. Among the conditions necessary to be retained, the scripts must contain at least one character at least 50 years old who will experience a trigger. A team of writers will support these two collection directors as needed to rework the scenarios. Ten projects will then be selected at the beginning of 2023 to hope for a production of this anthology next summer. Medium budget : between one million and 1.5 million euros per film.
