Paul Janke: These sports should not be missing in his everyday life

Paul Janke is a candidate for "Die! Herz! Schlag! Show!" (Start: July 13th). In the interview, he reveals whether he has an advantage as an athlete.

Ex- "Bachelor" Paul Janke (38) takes part in the "Die! Herz! Schlag! Show!" (July 13, 8:15 p.m. on ProSieben), in which celebrity teams try to influence their own heartbeat in various tasks. If you have your pulse under control, you win in the end. In an interview with the news agency spot on news, the passionate soccer player reveals whether his sportiness helps him with the tasks and which training he has integrated back into his everyday life after many years. The TV star also explains why he doesn't have to leave his home for holiday feelings.

Check your pulse: How did you prepare for the show?

Paul Janke: Steering your own heartbeat permanently is a really tough challenge! I think everyone knows the feeling when you are excited and your heart suddenly beats much faster. It is not easy to prepare for such moments – but I accept the challenge. (laughs)

Have you found a trick to keep your pulse low?

Janke: You just have to try to keep calm. This is really difficult because focusing often makes you even more nervous and the pulse shoots up instead of calming down. So this can be really funny on Monday!

They are vacuumed on the show. How does that feel?

Janke: This is a terrible feeling, especially at the beginning. Even before it really starts. You get more and more excited because you know it is about to happen, but you can't estimate what it will feel like. It is not yet known whether I can relax in a vacuum or get my heart racing from excitement.

What fears do you have to overcome on the show?

Janke: The whole show is full of tension and at the same time there are a lot of situations in which you have to laugh heartily. For me, the focus is on tension and fun, not fear.

Do you have an advantage on the show through your football and athlete existence?

Janke: No, the challenges are so crazy and different, so I don't think any participant has a real advantage. Let yourself be surprised.

After their "Bachelor" participation they took part in some sports and game shows. What do you like about it?

Paul Janke: I like being able to do very different things. I have been doing sports all my life and I love sports. But many game shows offer very special challenges that you could not experience in everyday life – I just enjoy that.

How do you like to keep fit at the moment?

Janke: I am currently doing a lot of sport. I started doing endurance sports again. I go running regularly again – I haven't done that in the last four years. I also play soccer at least once a week, have started tennis again and go to the gym.

How do you spend the summer, what about vacation plans?

Janke: I almost live on vacation – in Mallorca! I have the sea and the beach on my doorstep. This year it will definitely be quieter when it comes to work. So maybe I can enjoy that a little more than usual.
