Musician Paul McCartney is reminiscent of his former Beatles colleague John Lennon. The killed musician would have celebrated his 81st birthday.

Musician Paul McCartney (79) remembers with a funny photo on Instagram to his former bandmate John Lennon (1940-1980). The two can be seen playing the guitar; however, they hold their instruments to their chins like violins. “Happy birthday thoughts to John – Paul,” McCartney comments on the black and white photo.

John Lennon was shot dead in 1980

John Lennon would have turned 81 on Saturday (October 9th). The Oscar and multiple Grammy award winner and peace activist was only 40 years old. On the evening of December 8, 1980, he was shot dead by an assassin in front of the Dakota Building apartment block in New York City.

Paul McCartney and John Lennon became world famous together with George Harrison (1943-2001) and Ringo Starr (81) as The Beatles (1960-1970).
