British actor Paul Ritter died at the age of 54 in the presence of his family of complications from a brain tumor.

Paul Ritter is dead. The British actor’s manager have confirmed to the “Guardian”that Ritter died at the age of 54 as a result of a brain tumor. “It is with great sadness that we can confirm that Paul Ritter died last night,” says a corresponding statement. His wife Polly and his sons Frank and Noah were at Ritter’s side until the end.

The deceased was “an extraordinarily talented actor who played an enormous variety of roles on stage and screen with extraordinary talent”. The statement further describes Ritter as “extremely intelligent, amiable and very funny”.

From Bond to Potter

In Great Britain, Ritter was best known for his role of father Martin in the sitcom “Friday Night Dinner”, but he has also appeared in numerous other productions, including blockbusters such as “James Bond 007: Quantum of Consolation” or “Harry Potter and the half-blood prince “. Most recently he portrayed Anatoly Djatlov in the much-acclaimed HBO miniseries “Chernobyl”.
