  • The payment app Twint recorded five million users for the first time in January.
  • This means that more than half of the people living in Switzerland use the app’s services.
  • The number of transactions was also higher than ever last year.

According to the company, a total of 386 million payments were made with Twint in 2022. That is more transactions than in all the years since the company was founded in 2014.

The app is most commonly used at the cash register. But buying tickets for public transport or paying parking fees with Twint is also very popular, according to Twint.

Twint belongs to the largest Swiss banks UBS, Credit Suisse, Postfinance, Raiffeisen, Zürcher and Waadtländer Kantonalbank as well as the stock exchange operator SIX and the payment processor Worldline.
