In “Peaky Blinders” you can see Tommy Shelby’s conspicuous chest tattoo in many places. You can find out from us what the meaning behind it could be.
- Thomas Shelby, the crime boss from “Peaky Blinders”, sports an eye-catching tattoo on his chest.
- You can find out what could be hiding behind the sun’s rays with us.
While Season 6 of “Peaky Blinders” has already aired on BBC One in the UK, we’ll have to wait until June in this country for the final episodes to start streaming on Netflix.
To shorten your waiting time a little, we explain the meaning of the tattoo on the chest of crime boss Tommy Shelby. In numerous scenes, the head of the Shelby family is seen shirtless and the rather unusual tattoo catches the eye.
Sunbeams blaze across his chest, not particularly noticeable in and of themselves, but the tattoo looks incomplete. In the middle of such a tattoo one suspects a Jesus figure. The fact that Tommy only has the halo tattooed indicates his position on religion and belief.
Jesus and Christianity have no place in Thomas’ life. But of course that’s also because Tommy and his family are Roma and believe in different customs and grew up in a different culture. In England’s Christian culture, he walks without Jesus and follows his own ideas.
Once again, Tommy separates himself from society by choosing a life of crime. Of course, that’s just one possible interpretation of the eye-catching tattoo. The US magazine Screenrant also suspects that the tattoo is based on the Roma wheel and interprets it as a symbol of Tommy’s love of freedom and his descent.
On June 10, 2022, the episodes of “Peaky Blinders” season 6 will finally be released on Netflix. But with a trick you can already see the series finale of “Peaky Blinders”. In it we find out how the story ends for the Shelbys and their henchmen and whether Tommy is turning his back on the criminal world.
