A true and poignant story

On the edge of the abyss, they must nevertheless continue to run their farm in order to meet the needs of their daughters, Lola and Emilie. Very worried and eager to help her parents, the latter (aged 15) then throws a bottle into the sea on the web and calls for the solidarity of Internet users: she opens an online kitty in secret…

This poignant story is inspired by the true story of the real Pécourneaus. The latter, living in Lot-et-Garonne, experienced this extremely worrying situation in 2019. In an attempt to resolve the catastrophic cash flow concerns of her parents, the teenager had therefore launched the operation on the web “Helping a family on the side of the street“.

Fortunately, this initiative had at the time been widely shared on social networks and relayed by the media. Thus, thanks to the generosity of thousands of people across France, the Pécourneaus were able to get their heads above water…

“The distress call still resounds today”

In a note from the production of Peasant’s Daughter unveiled by France 2, it is indicated that the fiction teams have spoken with the main interested parties. With their agreement, the text took liberties while respecting the majority of the sequence of events.
