(dpa) A few days after the attack on the husband of Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, a conspiracy theory about the incident was circulating on social networks. This has now also been shared by the new Twitter owner Elon Musk. “There’s a tiny possibility that there’s more to this story,” the billionaire wrote on the forwarded link on Sunday.

The conspiracy theory retweeted by Musk on the Santa Monica Observer website suggests, without any evidence, that Paul Pelosi may have gotten into an argument with a man he let in himself. However, the police clearly speak of a burglary.

Pelosi’s condition is improving

A 42-year-old man broke into the Pelosis’ home in San Francisco on Friday night and demanded to see the politician. The 82-year-old was not at home, but in Washington. When police arrived, the man struck her husband, Paul Pelosi, who was the same age, with a hammer. He required surgery for a fractured skull and serious injuries to his right arm and hands. According to a message from Nancy Pelosi on Sunday night, his condition has improved. She called the attack life-threatening.

Musk’s tweet responded to a post by former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, who tweeted a link to an article about the attacker’s interest in right-wing conspiracy theories. The Santa Monica Observer website is also known for writing in 2016 that Hillary Clinton had died and was replaced by a look-alike.
