On the eve of a new day of mobilization against pension reform, Manon Aubry, the president of the left group in the European Parliament, was the guest of Europe Matin on Wednesday. According to MEP LFI-Nupes, to calm the situation, only one solution: withdraw the law.

While he was to speak in The Hague as part of his trip to the Netherlands, intended to discuss questions of sovereignty, President Emmanuel Macron was interrupted by demonstrators on Tuesday. Proof, according to LFI-Nupes MEP Manon Aubry, guest of Europe Matin on Wednesday, that the Head of State “can no longer set foot outside without being reminded of the pension reform, without being reminds him of the social and democratic brutality with which he governs our country”.

Emmanuel Macron, “trenched at the Elysée”

The French president is “like a madman, entrenched at the Elysée”, assured the president of the left group in the European Parliament. “He’s so isolated today […] everyone sees that he is trying to turn the page by force, but I tell Emmanuel Macron, the page is not going to turn, “launched Manon Aubry at the microphone of Europe 1. “Everyone would like to pass to something else but to do it, to wash away the anger of the country, it must withdraw this law”, continued the MEP LFI-Nupes.

At 33, Manon Aubry claims to have never seen such a long and strong mobilization in the streets of France. Three months after the first mobilization against the pension reform, French people and unions are still on the streets every week and individual blockages abound. This Wednesday morning, traffic on the Nantes ring road was slowed down due to blocking actions carried out by demonstrators against the pension reform. In the suburbs of Strasbourg, an Auchan refrigerated platform supplying supermarkets in eastern France with fresh produce was also blocked by the CFDT Alsace.

“It will be 49.3 to the power of ten”

Opponents of the pension reform are firmly awaiting the decisions of the Constitutional Council, delivered on Friday, which will determine the continuation of the movement. If the shared initiative referendum is invalidated, “it will be 49.3 to the power of ten in terms of anger in the country”, concluded Manon Aubry.
