Pension reform: the RN censure motion debated after midnight

The motion of censure of the RN is on the calendar of debates scheduled for this evening in the Assembly. The discussion on the motion of censure will follow the debates on the pension reform, before a vote takes place between two and three o’clock in the morning, to determine the interest of the proposal of the group of Marine Le Pen.

The motion of censure tabled by RN deputies will be debated after midnight before the National Assembly, at the end of the debates on the pension reform project, we learned on Friday from a parliamentary source. The Conference of Presidents of the Assembly recorded this schedule, which should lead to a vote on the motion around 2 a.m. or 3 a.m., after two weeks of epic exchanges on the highly contested government project.

Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne will be present, AFP learned from those around her. This motion was tabled on Wednesday by the boss of the Rassemblement National group Marine Le Pen “so that the deputies opposed” to the pension reform “can express their rejection of this text”.

The debates on the motion of censure start after midnight

But she has no chance of being adopted, the left having made it known that she would not bring her votes. At midnight, cleaver hour, the discussions will stop on the amendments to the pension reform, and the debate on the motion of censure of the government will start. The speaker from the RN group will speak first, before a response from Ms. Borne. Then it will be the turn of the political groups, for a total speaking time of 2h30, which could however not be exhausted.

The ballot will then be organized in the rooms adjoining the hemicycle, for 30 incompressible minutes. Only the deputies favorable to the adoption of the motion of censure take part in the vote. But “we cannot desert and leave the RN alone against the government”, we gritted within another opposition group, worried about the image given at the end of this sequence on pensions.
