Christian Estrosi, mayor of Nice and vice-president of Horizons, is the guest of Sonia Mabrouk this Thursday. A few hours before Parliament’s vote on the pension reform, he spoke out on the need to vote on the text.
More than a few hours before the deliberation. The text of the law on pension reform is voted on Thursday in Parliament. At the microphone of Sonia Mabrouk, the mayor of Nice believes that it is “imperative that this law pass”. “One way or another, it has to pass,” he continues.
49.3, a democratic tool
Faced with those alarmed by the use of 49.3 by the government, Christian Estrosi expresses his disagreement. “I was a parliamentarian for almost 22 years. 49.3 under the governments of Lionel Jospin, who was himself in a relative majority when I was on the benches of the RPR, were used I don’t know how many times”, he details.
“When we were in power, we used it several times. Nobody disputed when the Prime Minister decided to implement 49.3 during discussions around a bill,” he continues.
For the mayor of Nice, the 49.3 is a democratic tool like any other: “Democracy is organized around a Constitution which was well built by General de Gaulle and this provision has enabled structural reforms and faster modernization of our country”.
