A third of the savings made by the pension reform proposed by the government will be used to better develop the careers of all, said Saturday the Minister of Public Service Stanislas Guerini.

“What is at stake behind the reform is how careers are developed. This is also why this reform will devote a lot of effort – a third of the savings generated will be put into these efforts – to be able to acquire tools to better develop careers,” he said on FranceInfo.

Of the 17.7 billion euros in savings targeted by 2030, six billion euros will be dedicated to “correcting injustices”, he said, stressing that “it is without comparison with the reforms previous retreats.

“The 2010 reform is 30 billion euros in savings, of which 1.5 billion was devoted to correcting injustices,” he compared.

Among the measures envisaged, the Minister of the Public Service notably highlighted the introduction of “progressive retirement” for teachers. “It allows you to go part-time at the end of your career without losing remuneration because you will be able to benefit in advance from your retirement pension”, recalled Mr. Guerini.

The reflection also concerns, according to him, “how we can make the end of a career more acceptable, how we can allow more civil servants to change jobs, to have more mobility.”
