The flood of threats and intimidation against MPs continues. This Tuesday, during the mobilizations which again mobilized thousands of people against the pension reform all over France, several parliamentarians in favor of the government bill were targeted by demonstrators.
This is for example the case of the deputy and spokesperson Renaissance Violette Spillebout. A dozen demonstrators this morning went to his home in Lille, singing “Everybody hates the Spillebouts“. The participants also erected a barricade and cemented a wall of breeze blocks in front of the building in which the elected representative lives and while her daughter was present there. An action “symbolicaccording to the demonstrators, and demanded by the local sections of the CGT, Sud Rail, the NPA, and other unions.

Violette Spillebout, currently in Tours for a flash mission on media education, reacted strongly on Twitter to denounce the facts. “Discuss. Yes. To oppose, sometimes strongly. Yes. Attacking my home. Take it out on my family. I will never accept it. Democracy ends where hatred and violence begin“, she lambasted. The socialist mayor of Lille, Martine Aubry, unreservedly condemned this action. “Although I am in deep disagreement with the policy that Mrs Spillebout supports and with her way of doing politics, I find unacceptable the operation of masonry carried out this morning at her home and give her, for that, my support“, she explained on Twitter.
In Saint-Étienne, a stoned parliamentary office
During the rally in Saint-Étienne, the parliamentary permanence of Renaissance MP Quentin Bataillon was downgraded. The windows were stoned and the door of the room was broken down by the demonstrators, who managed to enter before the intervention of the police. The latter finally intervened to protect the building and received numerous projectiles.
In recent days, many parliamentarians from the presidential camp as well as Republicans, also in favor of this reform, have been targeted. Death threat letters against them and their baby were notably sent to Renaissance MPs Aurore Bergé and Marie Lebec. Missives whose publication on social networks caused a great stir.
