Pensions: SNCF, refineries, EDF… These sectors where the strike continues this Wednesday

After a third day of national actions on Tuesday, the mobilization continues this Wednesday in certain sectors, causing disruption.

And it continues. In certain professional sectors, the day of national mobilization on Tuesday against the pension reform – the third after January 19 and 31 – is coupled with a new day of strikes this Wednesday. Le Figaro takes stock of the sectors and public services concerned.

At the SNCF

At the SNCF, after a day of strikes on Tuesday on which the four representative unions of the company had agreed (CGT Cheminots, Unsa-Ferroviaire, SUD-Rail and CFDT Cheminots), the union front hitherto united cracked somewhat little this Wednesday. Only two organizations (SUD-Rail and the CGT Cheminots) are indeed calling on their agents to stop work.

Thus, in Île-de-France, the traffic of the RER lines operated by the SNCF (C, D and E) and that of the suburban trains will remain “disturbed” this Wednesday. For example, only one out of two trains is required on RER C, two out of five on RER D and two out of three on RER E.

As for the main lines, the public company plans on average two out of three TGVs, with in detail two out of three trains to the North, a circulation “almost normal” towards the East, three out of five trains towards the South-East, one out of two trains towards the Atlantic, two out of three Ouigo and three out of five province-province TGVs. SNCF Voyageurs is counting on one in two Intercités and will cancel its night trains. The company also plans to run nearly one in two TERs, with disruptions in all regions.

In refineries

In the refineries, the TotalEnergies strikers renewed their movement on Wednesday morning against the pension reform project in most of the group’s refineries, we learned from the CGT. The union called last week for a 48-hour strike starting Tuesday. The movement had been shortened by 24 hours, since it is a strike of 72 hours from Monday which was initially planned by the oil branch of the CGT.

This Wednesday morning, the CGT counted 100% of strikers among the operators of the morning teams at the Flandres fuel depot (North), near Dunkirk, 80% at the Donges refinery (Loire-Atlantique), 70% at the refinery Feyzin (Rhône) and 56% at the Normandy refinery. “We renew the same modalities for this beginning of the day“, and therefore the suspension of fuel shipments from refineries to fuel depots, Eric Sellini, CGT coordinator for the TotalEnergies group, told AFP. A stoppage of production in the refineries is however not yet on the agenda.

There is no shortage of fuelsin the group’s service stations, assured the management of TotalEnergies on Tuesday, as on previous occasions. “Stocks in depots and service stations are at a satisfactory level“, she added.

At EDF

At EDF, the National Federation of Mines and Energy of the CGT (FNME-CGT) launched a 72-hour strike on Monday, so until Wednesday. The reductions in electricity production will therefore continue this Wednesday. After reaching 6160 MW on Tuesday at the height of the movement, according to EDF management, and up to 7000 MW, “i.e. 10% of French consumption“, according to the CGT, further declines, of around 1000 MW, were observed overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday.

The gas-fired power stations of Martigues (Bouches-du-Rhône) and Blénod (Meurthe-et-Moselle) were the main affected by these declines, which had affected several nuclear power stations on Tuesday. Like Tuesday, these declines did not cause cuts.

In the ports

Ports could also be disrupted on Wednesday. The National Federation of Ports and Docks of the CGT has indeed launched a call for a 48-hour strike from Tuesday. New actions in the French ports could therefore be organized on Wednesday, in particular blockages, like Tuesday morning at the port of Le Havre, where access to the industrial zone surrounding it had been blocked by the strikers.

At the Post Office

At La Poste, a 48-hour strike notice was filed by the group’s unions for the days of February 7 and 8. “In this context, the routing and distribution of your shipments may be impacted. La Poste cannot then guarantee the fulfillment of its commitments with regard to delivery times.the company said in a statement.
