Pensions: “Those who are against democracy are the government”, assures Alexis Corbière

Thousands of amendments, including a large part tabled by rebellious France, to be examined in a few days and deputies multiplying the invectives. Debates on pension reform in the National Assembly are getting worse. Proof of this is the words of LFI deputy Aurélien Saintoul, against the Minister of Labor, Olivier Dusspot. “You are an impostor and an assassin”, chanted in the hemicycle the elected representative before sitting down, provoking the ire of the deputies of the majority, but also of other parties.

Parliamentary filibuster?

Remarks firmly condemned by Alexis Corbière this Tuesday morning at the microphone of Europe 1. Aurélien Saintoul justifies his words “by fatigue” and “emotion”. Feelings shared by the deputy of Seine-Saint-Denis invited this Tuesday in Europe morning, faced with the speed of the examination of the bill.

“In reality, we have not debated much” on the government bill, he regrets at the microphone of Europe 1, believing “that the executive wants” to limit the debates, thanks to the use of Article 47.1, which limits the examination of a text to a maximum of 50 days. “We want debate, without debate. We want deputies, who do not table amendments”, he gets annoyed.

In question, the thousands of amendments tabled by rebellious France in the National Assembly. A strategy widely criticized by the majority, but also by the unions, who deplore the “obstruction”. “In reality, those who are against democracy are the government,” assures Alexis Corbière, faced with the criticisms leveled against his party.

“They are in the minority”

“The reality is they who do not want to discuss a text, go to the end because they are a minority in society. They are even perhaps a minority in the hemicycle”, continues- he. Objective for rebellious France, to highlight the inconsistencies of the government in its bill, explains the deputy for Seine-Saint-Denis.

“What we want to know with the amendment strategy is: is this story (of a minimum pension) of 1,200 euros, is it true?” And to add: “I tell you, this story is false. So this strategy of repetitive amendments can lead” to confessing the truth, concludes Alexis Corbière.
