Discussions on pension reform are progressing. The main lines of the text carried by the government will be presented in a week by Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne. Philippe Martinez of the CGT, Laurent Berger of the CFDT and Élisabeth Borne are continuing the consultations when the die seems already cast. During a dinner at the Elysée with majority executives, Emmanuel Macron confirmed his wish to postpone the legal age of departure to 65.

In the meantime, the feeling here from the unions is that the return to school in January should be extremely hectic.

“We reaffirmed our opposition to the postponement of the legal age and we insisted on the fact that all union representations are against it”, explains at the microphone of Europe 1, Philippe Martinez. “And we have already warned that if the government does not change this legal age measure or the contribution period, important things could happen as early as January,” he concludes.
