Pentagon chief hospitalized after surgery, recovering well – spokesperson

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, 70, was admitted to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland on Jan. 1 after complications from an “elective medical procedure,” he said. the Pentagon press service on Friday.

“He is recovering well and is expected to return to full duty today,” spokesman Pat Ryder said in a statement.
