Perfect Dark: Crystal Dynamics will continue to assist The Initiative on the reboot

The takeover of the Western part of Square Enix by Embracer Group shook the industry yesterday when it was announced. This acquisition, which came out of nowhere, raises big questions about the projects already underway, starting with the case of the studio Crystal Dynamics, present on three fronts simultaneously. First the survival of Marvel’s Avengersof which we do not give much of our skin after this takeover, then the new tomb Raider on Unreal Engine 5, not to mention the studio’s support for The Initiative on the reboot of Perfect Dark. But on this project, nothing seems to change.

Perfect Dark can always count on Crystal Dynamics

In a tweet responding to the acquisition of Crystal Dynamics by Embracer Group, The Initiative has confirmed that the collaboration with the studio will continue :

We are excited to see Crystal Dynamics taking these next steps with their studio. Our teams have made great strides together in building Perfect Dark as co-development partners, and we will continue that work with them in this next adventure. »

In other words, Crystal Dynamics does not change a priori its participation in the project, and should therefore continue to help the Microsoft studio. According to the latest news, it even seems that it is Crystal Dynamics who has just become the “leader” of the project, following the many internal changes within The Initiative.
