Triumphant start to the European Championship: The DFB team overwhelms the Scots 5:1. Kroos, Gündogan and Co. celebrate the impressive opening victory.

The European Championship in Germany got off to a brilliant start on Friday evening: Germany beat the overwhelmed Scots 5-1, which was a well-deserved win. DFB stars subsequently celebrated their triumph via social media.

Captain Ilkay Gündogan (33) posted a picture of himself on Instagram surrounded by his teammates. He wrote: “Couldn’t be prouder of the team! Perfect start!” His colleague Thomas Müller (34) shared a picture with Gündogan from the dressing room and praised his captain, who in his eyes delivered a “world-class performance”.

Even the goalkeeper, who was unemployed for long stretches of the match Manuel Neuer (38) gave vent to his joy on Instagram. He captioned a celebratory pose and some game scenes: “Thank you for this incredible start to the European Championship, Munich! This is how we wanted the start to be!” Young star Florian Wirtz (21)who started the flood of goals with his goal, also shared some pictures of the game on Instagram and wrote briefly: “We’re in. What a start.” The Striker Kai Havertz (25) was enthusiastic about the start and posted some snapshots from the Allianz Arena. The DFB star commented: “Perfect start to the tournament. Straight on to the next one.” And the outstanding Jamal Musiala (21) also called the opening match a “perfect start”.

Not only Wirtz, Musiala and Havertz were on the scoresheet, but also the substitutes Niclas Füllkrug (31) and Emre Can (30)who was only nominated on Wednesday. Füllkrug wrote of a “strong start” and Can also called the 5:1 a “perfect start”. And the thinker and leader in midfield? Toni Kroos (34) shared a picture of Thomas Müller in one of his stories. It shows the remaining 2014 World Champions in the current DFB squad, Neuer, Müller and Kroos, at the “perfect start”.

Germany faces Hungary on Wednesday

The DFB team will continue its Group A campaign on Wednesday, June 19th, with a match against Hungary. Kick-off in Stuttgart is at 6 p.m. Coach Julian Nagelsmann’s (36) men will play their last preliminary round match against Switzerland in Frankfurt on Sunday, June 23rd, at 9 p.m.
