Pernod Ricard: sale of the Czech brand Becherovka to the Polish group Maspex – 12/21/2023 at 6:15 p.m.


(AOF) – Pernod Ricard has signed an agreement for the sale of the Becherovka brand and associated assets, including the Karlovy Vary production site, to the Maspex group, the largest Polish private player in the agri-food sector and one of the most important in Eastern Europe. The completion of the operation, which remains subject to the usual suspensive conditions, should take place by the end of June 2024. Created in 1807, Becherovka is an iconic Czech bitter, whose original and unchanged recipe uses some twenty aromatic plants and spices.

Produced in Karlovy Vary, where there is also a dedicated museum, Becherovka is one of the world’s leading bitters brands.

It is particularly popular in Central Europe.

The success of the original version has made it possible in recent years to expand the range with the launch of several innovative variations, such as Becherovka Lemond or Becherovka Unfiltered.

Soaring energy prices and a call for help
