Peru: Ex-president Pedro Castillo seeks asylum in Mexico


Former Peruvian President Pedro Castillo, deposed and remanded in custody, has made an official request for asylum in Mexico, which is consulting the Peruvian government, Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard announced on Thursday (December 8th). The rebellion and conspiracy prosecutions are in addition to the six other investigations for corruption or influence peddling targeting Pedro Castillo, offenses of which members of his family and his political entourage are also accused.
