Peugeot has just unveiled a first photo of the 408 (or e-408), its future SUV coupé which will be available in a 100% electric version.
After the Peugeot e-208 and e-308, the French manufacturer is actively preparing for the arrival of the future e-408. The proof is with the first photo of the teased car by Peugeot on Twitter.
We see the grille of this future SUV, attached to the keyword #PlugInHybrid resulting in plug-in hybrid. Peugeot therefore announces the color with the arrival of the 408 in a rechargeable hybrid version. If the Sochaux manufacturer does not approach a 100% electric version, rumors believe that the Peugeot 408 will not arrive before the end of 2024 at best. The thermal and hybrid versions should begin their careers within a few months, a priori in September 2022 before an official presentation scheduled for this month.
54 or 75 kWh for the battery?
From a technical point of view, the future Peugeot e-408 would be based on the same platform as the Opel Astra, Peugeot 308 and DS4 with, we hope, a battery capacity a little higher than the 54 kWh which should be found on the Peugeot e-308. Why not after all, since these three models must be based on the EMP2 Evo platform, knowing that the Opel Zafira-e on the EMP2 platform incorporates a 75 kWh battery.
