Peugeot E-Lion: up to 700 km of 100% electric range

In the sequel to its Inception concept car, the French manufacturer Peugeot today unveils its ambitions in terms of electrification. By 2023, all models will be electrified. For 2025, the goal is to offer a complete 100% electric range. In 2030, all Peugeot vehicles will be purely electric.

Within two years, Peugeot will present the e-308, e-308 SW, e-408, e-3008 and e-5008. The compact 308 and its break version will, as we already know, be driven by an electric motor which will develop 115 kW (156 hp) and will be powered by a 51 kWh battery for 48.1 kWh usable; the advertised autonomy is still around 400 km in the WLTP cycle thanks to an average consumption of 12.7 kWh.

On the other hand, the highly anticipated new e-3008 will be revealed in the second half of 2023. Based on the new STLA Medium platform, the manufacturer announces a range of up to 700 km, with three engines, including one four-wheel drive . The e-5008 seven-seater extrapolation will be unveiled later.

In addition, starting this year, Peugeot will deploy 48 V micro-hybridization on the 208, 2008, 308, 408 and 3008, 5008. This micro-hybridization is made up of a 100 hp or 136 hp PureTech engine, coupled to a six-speed electrified dual-clutch (E-DCS6), which incorporates an electric motor developing 21 kW. The battery, which is charged here only while driving, offers increased low-speed torque and a 15% reduction in consumption, according to the manufacturer. Peugeot also specifies that in an urban environment a C-segment SUV equipped with this system can thus operate more than 50% of the time in 100% zero-emission electric mode.

At the same time, the manufacturer is announcing a redefinition of the stylistic language with silhouettes that will be more between the sedan and the SUV. In the passenger compartment, not only should the public expect new fittings, but above all a new i-Cockpit with an original interface which will be launched from 2026. Peugeot mentions in particular collaborations with Amazon and Foxconn for the development of the service offer.
