After the redesign of the Peugeot e-2008 in May 2023, the introduction of the new Peugeot e-3008 at the start of the school year and the recent presentation of the restyled Partner, it is the turn of the electric Rifter to experience a second youth.

Indeed, Peugeot has just presented the new version of the E-Rifter, its electric MPV intended for large families and users looking for space. For the Lion brand, this reissue is above all an opportunity for it to erase one of the main faults of the first E-Rifter of the name: its ridiculous autonomy for a family vehicle of 280 km…

The Rifter’s range finally passes the 300 km mark

With this restyling, the autonomy increases a little, without reaching new heights. Thanks to “work on the overall efficiency of the vehicle”, the E-Rifter can now travel 320 km with a single charge. We therefore gain 40 km on the initial autonomy. It’s always good to take. Still in this desire to strengthen autonomy, we will appreciate the addition of a three-stage regenerative braking system via paddles located at the rear of the steering wheel.

The new e-Rifter also benefits from a heat pump, to improve passenger comfort and optimize energy efficiency. Concerning charging, nothing has changed: a 7.4 kW onboard charger (11 kW optional) and up to 100 kW of DC charging power (i.e. approximately 30 minutes from 0 to 80%). Under the hood”, the MPV has retained the 100 kW (136 hp) unit used on the 1st version with a maximum torque of 270 Nm. We therefore remain on similar performances with a top speed set at 135 km/h and 0 to 100 km/h achieved in 11.2 seconds.

Modernized design and interior

On the occasion of this restyling, the E-Rifter benefited from a redesign in line with the brand’s latest wattage productions. The more dynamic front face features a unique grille adorned with the famous three-claw light signature. True to its adventurer side, the E-Rifter sports wide wheel arches, imposing side protections, roof bars and significant ground clearance.

The interior also gets a makeover with a new 100% digital 10-inch instrument clustera large 10-inch central touchscreen infotainment screen and a compact heated steering wheel with integrated controls.

According to Peugeot, the 2023 E-Rifter will be available in two versions of respectively 5 and 7 seats (4.40 m and 4.75 m in length). The 1st will offer a comfortable volume of 775 liters under tablet while we can reach up to 4,000 liters on the Long version with all seats folded. For now, the Lion brand has not given a launch date or price for the new E-Rifter.
