Music producer Phil Spector has died. He has been behind bars for manslaughter since 2009.

The American music producer Phil Spector (1939-2021) is dead. The American authorities confirmed this on Sunday in several US media outlets. In the statement it is said that Spector died of natural causes, previously the portal "TMZ" wanted to know that his death could be connected with a Covid-19 illness. Accordingly, Spector had to be transferred to a hospital four weeks ago, but was able to recover there. Now there was a relapse with shortness of breath, from the consequences of which Spector died on January 16, 2021. In contrast to this representation, the "New York Times" left the cause of death open.

Phil Spector has worked with a number of well-known artists over the course of his career. Among other things, he produced the hit "River Deep, Mountain High" (1966) for Ike & Tina Turner and their last album "Let It Be" (1970) for the Beatles. In 2009, he was sentenced to at least 19 years in prison for the manslaughter of his girlfriend, actress Lana Clarkson (1962-2003, "Scarface"). In 2013, "Phil Spector", a film about the trial of the imprisoned music producer, was released, with Al Pacino (80) in the lead role.
