Philippe Etchebest condemned in a conflict between him and his neighbor: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

2,192,802.25 euros : this is the amount claimed byhe Bordeaux chef Philippe Etchebest to his neighbor for “abusive recourse “. The man named Christophe Chaillet was contesting the building permit for the starred chef’s new restaurant in the Chartrons district in Bordeaux. The city court finally rejected Philippe Etchebest’s request, and ordered him to pay 20,000 euros in damages to his neighbor Tuesday April 13, 2021, according to the judgment procured 20 minutes.

The court of Bordeaux considered that the amount of the sums requested by the cook, not stingy in rants, from his neighbor, that is to say a little more than 2 million euros, was, according to the judgment “quite considerable and likely to impress M. Chaillet, threatened with ruin “. Still according to the judgment, the neighbor should then “bear the fear of the weight of condemnation” until payment of the debt.

A two-year dispute

The dispute between the chef and his neighbor is not new. The two men clashed in 2018. That year, Mr. Chaillet saw the sale of his apartment canceled, due to Phillippe Etchebest’s restaurant project, just next door. As his lawyer reminds us, the star chef’s neighbor notes that Philippe Etchebest’s building permit “by rear elevation elements, the construction of a terrace, was indeed going to create a serious nuisance and had many irregularities with regard to the rules of the local urban plan protecting this sector under the name of ‘town of stone’ “.

Philippe Etchebest’s SCI (real estate company) then appealed to the tribunal de grande instance “an action for compensation ” against Christophe Chaillet on February 27, 2019. Christophe Chaillet’s first license is then canceled, before the second is suspended, again attacked by the neighbor of the host of Kitchen nightmare. A decision under advisement is also still awaited.

Contacted several times on Friday April 16 by 20 minutes, Philippe Etchebest did not wish to respond to the newspaper’s requests. Will the famous Bordeaux chef appeal? The question still remains unanswered.
