PARIS (Reuters) – The secretary general of the CGT, Philippe Martinez, will leave his post at the next union congress in March 2023, we learned from his press service on Tuesday, confirming information from Les Echos.

He proposes to appoint Marie Buisson, secretary general of the federation of education, research and culture, to succeed him, adds the press service.

Yves Veyrier, the general secretary of Force Ouvrière, France’s third-largest union, will hand over his hand this week at the union’s confederal congress in Rouen.

Two candidates are in the running to succeed him, the favorite, Frédéric Souillot, close to the current secretary general and former member of the office of the FO federation of metallurgy, and Christian Grolier, number one of the general federation of civil servants.
