SATA III SSDs up to 7.68 TB
In recent weeks at Phison, we have mainly been talking about new developments in the world of PCI Express Gen 5 SSDs in order to offer less heat-intensive units while still increasing speeds.
With the S12DI and S17T models, Phison is therefore seeking to talk about another segment of the storage market. Indeed, it is a question here of addressing fans of video surveillance through two new ranges with unique technical characteristics.
The S17T is mentioned by Phison, but the details are rare while for the S12DI we know that it will be a question of SSD to the SATA III standard, NVMe is therefore not on the program. On the other hand, several formats are planned from 2.5 inches (U2) to different M.2 (2242 or 2280).
Phison also discusses the capacities of its new range of SSDs with models ranging from 240 GB to 7.68 TB to suit all needs and all uses.

Compared to the ultra-fast SSDs that we are familiar with in NVMe, the S12DI seems rather slow: here we are talking about speeds of up to 550 MB/s reading and 520 MB/s writing for 88K/98K IOPS reading /random writing. If performance is low, the challenge lies elsewhere.
