This new week started off with a bang for Brigitte and Emmanuel Macron. Indeed, regardless of the public holidays and bridges in May, the presidential couple was there this Monday, May 6 to welcome Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan. This is the third official visit of the President of the Middle Kingdom since the arrival of Emmanuel Macron at the head of state, and it aimed to consolidate relations between the two countries and to discuss issues that shake geopolitics and world peace. Thus, after welcoming his counterpart on the square in front of the Élysée, Emmanuel Macron and Xi Jinping withdrew for a trilateral meeting with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
In the middle of the afternoon, the two heads of state headed to the Hôtel national des Invalides to attend an official ceremony where they reviewed the troops to the sound of the two national anthems. Finally, this evening the classic state dinner took place at the Élysée Palace. Brigitte Macron was resplendent in a magnificent turquoise blue dress to welcome the Chinese presidential couple. Wearing a long dress and high heels, her husband Emmanuel Macron graciously, like a gentleman, extended his arm to help her down the steps of the Élysée Palace, while giving the impression of tickling her for to make laugh. This seemingly innocuous gesture nevertheless testifies to a great complicity and sincere love between the President and the First Lady, who arrived at the bottom of the stairs all smiles.

Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron have never hidden their affection in public: whether by holding hands during their vacation or by exchanging compliments during a conversation, the presidential couple displays a wonderful bond. A striking example of this strong union took place during an official visit to Sweden. On February 1, Emmanuel Macron took part in a meeting with Swedish students as part of Studentafton, a forum for debate and expression. At the end of the discussion, each participant was presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. When a man handed him this present, Emmanuel Macron kindly asked that it be given to his wife. “Thank you, give it to my wife”, he told a member of the organization. Without hesitation, the man walked towards the president’s companion to give her the bouquet. A thoughtful gesture on the part of Emmanuel Macron, illustrating once again their beautiful relationship.
