Saturday January 22, photographer Jean-Marie Périer revealed, on his Instagram account, an old photo in black and white on which he poses with Françoise Hardy and the writer Jacques Lanzmann. A cliché that dates back to the 1960s and which inspired the one who collaborated with the magazine Hi buddies, published until 2006. “That evening, we were having dinner in a Parisian brasserie. Which one and on what occasion? My memory gets lost and the photos are implacable, even cruel, they taunt you as if to say to you: ‘You don’t remember me? One day you too will be forgotten!'” he wrote in the caption of his post.
What make him want to advise some of his fans who all have long and beautiful years of life ahead of them: “That is why, once again, I urge young people to keep a daily journal. Plus, today you’re lucky you can jot down anything that comes to mind on your phone.” Determined to encourage young people to keep memories of their good and bad times, Jean-Marie Périer has developed: “Write down what you saw or thought during the day, those insignificant things that seem to you to be uninteresting or superfluous and which, one day, will be indispensable to you when you are desperately seeking the moments of grace of your past life.”

“Photos help a lot to go back in time”
Visibly nostalgic, the 81-year-old photographer added: “Believe me, what you don’t write down right away is lost forever!” A message full of wisdom that has been approved by many Internet users: “Beautiful and touching photo of the young couple that you formed (…) It’s beautiful young people and you are right to encourage young people to take notes regularly. Photos help a lot to go back in time. Memories are etched there forever., “The advice is very sound”, “You’re right. Keep a diary young people. I did that from 16 to 35 years old.”
