September 27, 2022: Typhoon Noru devastates the Philippines
Typhoon Noru caused heavy damage with its heavy rain and wind speeds of 240 km per hour. At least six people were killed. The hurricane made landfall on Sunday evening (local time) in the province of Quezon, which is located on the main island of Luzon. The district of San Miguel, located north of the capital Manila, was hit particularly hard. Luckily, more than 52,000 people were accommodated in emergency shelters. The tropical storm is moving on and is expected to reach Vietnam on Wednesday morning (local time). Some people have taken security precautions there and surrounding airports have been closed for the time being.
