An emblematic event on the Rock, Charlene of Monaco has attended the Bal de la Rose on a few rare occasions since her marriage to Prince Albert in 2011. In 2009, she opted for an astonishing rock hairstyle with XXL volume and wore a black strapless dress set with colored rhinestones. In 2010, she arrived on the arm of her fiancé with a magnificent champagne dress set with green pearls on one of the straps. As for hairstyle, she wore a sophisticated low bun to accompany her golden makeup, chosen in the same tones as her dress.
The following year in 2011, the princely couple did not attend the traditional Rose Ball because they were in mourning. Indeed, Albert of Monaco had just lost his aunt Princess Antoinette, sister of his father Rainier III (died April 6, 2005). She died on the night of Thursday March 17 to Friday March 18, 2011 at the age of 90.
In 2012, Charlene of Monaco reappeared with a magnificent, very sensual strapless dress from the Akris label, featuring a vintage gold headband. For this beautiful evening, Jacques and Gabriella’s mother had her hair tied in a very 1960s style and wore Cartier earrings in platinum and diamonds.
A year later in 2013, Charlene of Monaco arrived on her husband’s arm adorned with an impressive neck ornament and a Ralph Lauren dress with a wide neckline made up of a sparkling shawl. To accessorize this very Haute-Couture outfit, she wore a cream leather jacket which gave her a very rock look.

Finally in 2014, Prince Albert’s wife was dressed by Karl Lagerfeld and wore a dress in the colors of Akris’ night. In terms of hairstyle, she wore her hair slicked back giving her a very elegant look. This year, she also made a beautiful declaration of love for Prince Albert to the journalists of Vanity Fair : “Albert is passionate, intelligent, romantic, he is the man I love and esteem.”
Since then, Charlene of Monaco has been regularly absent from the Rose Ball since her husband has been going there alone or accompanied by his sisters or his children. As a reminder this year, the Rose Ball will have a Disco theme and will include prestigious guests like Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor and Cher. Who knows, Charlene from Monaco will perhaps be present for this new edition?
