Actress Phyllis Somerville is dead. The familiar face died on Friday at the age of 76 in New York.

Actress Phyllis Somerville (1943-2020) is dead. The familiar face of the series died on July 16 of a natural death in her home in New York City. She was 76 years old. This was confirmed by her manager Paul Hilepo "Entertainment Weekly".

In addition to numerous guest appearances in series such as "House of Cards", "CSI: Miami" or "Law & Order", Somerville had two major leading roles: From 2010 to 2013 she played the role of Marlene in "The Big C" and in "Outsiders" from 2016 to 2017 the head of the family Lady Ray. In "Sex and the City" she appeared as Gertrude Morgan in 1998. Somerville was also at home on the big screen: her appearances include roles in "The Strange Case of Benjamin Button" (2208) or "Surviving Family" (2014).

Most recently she was in front of the camera for the HBO mini series "Mare of Easttown" with Kate Winslet (44), Jean Smart (68) and Julianne Nicholson (49). It is not yet clear whether her character will be cast again or Phyllis Somerville will be seen in the series posthumously.
