Pi5 S2 and Pi7 S2: Bowers & Wilkins renews its range of headphones without bringing any real new features

The British hi-fi brand Bowers & Wilkins seems to have lacked imagination for the new versions of its headphones. Indeed, the Pi5 S2 and Pi7 S2 replace the Pi5 and Pi7 in the manufacturer’s catalog without making any real changes.

Better connectivity and improved battery life

Thus, the new headphones would be equipped with a new antenna with a better range and ensuring better connection stability. Also new, both pairs of headphones gain an additional hour of battery life for a total of five hours per charge by disabling active noise reduction. A value that remains despite everything very low compared to what is currently done on the market.

The Pi5 S2 and Pi7 S2 feature new colours: cloud grey, storm grey, spring lilac and sage green for the former, satin black, canvas white or midnight blue for the latter.

A technical sheet identical to previous versions

On the rest, the Pi5 S2 and Pi7 S2 are in every way identical to their predecessors. The design is thus the same: elegant and neat look, almost entirely made of plastic shells with a metallic finish patch affixed to the top. They are compatible with the Bowers & Wilkins Music app, which natively integrates the Qobuz, Tidal and Deezer platforms in addition to various settings.

The Pi7 S2 stand out with a more advanced acoustic architecture consisting of a 9.2 mm dynamic speaker supported by a balanced armature speaker. Each earbud is equipped with three microphones for calls and for onboard adaptive active noise canceling. The Pi7 S2 also support the aptX Adaptive codec and retain their case that can serve as a Bluetooth transmitter.

The Pi5 S2 have a slightly more modest technical sheet. They have a single 9.2mm dynamic speaker, are equipped with two microphones per earpiece and are deprived of the advanced features of the Pi7 S2 case.

The Pi5 S2 and Pi7 S2 are already available at respective prices of €299 and €399.
