12/22/21 – A unique find
A fossil dinosaur egg between 72 and 66 million years old was recovered in the province of Jiangxi in southern China in the year 2000, which has then been forgotten. Researchers have now found out that it contains a completely intact dinosaur embryo that was probably about to hatch. Such finds are extremely rare and worth gold for research, according to the team from the China University of Geosciences in Beijing. They named the embryo Baby Yingliang after the boss of the mining company Yingliang Group, who first bought the fossilized egg. The animal, estimated to be 27 centimeters long from head to tail, crouched squeezed in the egg, which was around 17 centimeters long. The embryo probably belongs to the group of oviraptorosaurs, which – toothless and walking on two legs – are very similar to our birds. The research team named the fossil one of the most beautiful in the world.
