Pierce Brosnan: "Once you are bond, you stay forever"

Pierce Brosnan has embodied 007 in four films. He doesn't regret anything. The cult role "enabled him to have a wonderful career".

Actor Pierce Brosnan (67) was the fifth James Bond actor and direct predecessor of the current 007, Daniel Craig (52). Brosnan appeared as a double zero agent in four films. It began with "Goldeneye" in 1995 and "Die Another Day" in 2002. Brosnan would have been available for a fifth part, but the series was given a new face. He was not sad about it. "In my world there is no room for regret. It only leads to more sorrow and more regret," said Brosnan in an interview with the "Guardian". He almost raves about the cult role.

Does Pierce Brosnan want to retire?

"Bond is a gift for eternity and has given me a wonderful career," says Brosnan. "Once you're a bond, you stay that way forever." You have to be aware of that when you take on the role of James Bond and make your peace with it. On the other hand, he remains silent about a woman as a possible next James Bond, although he had publicly spoken out for it in 2019. Craig ends his 007 career with "No Time to Die", which is expected to hit theaters in November 2020.

By the way, Brosnan doesn't want to retire yet. "I don't want to retire," he says. As a 67-year-old man, however, he is offered different roles than before, for example in comedies. But that doesn't seem to bother him. "At this point in my life, I don't know what else to do besides acting and painting." He is currently seen in the Netflix comedy "Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga" with Will Ferrell (52), whose father he plays.
