I’compensation for victims of traffic accidents such as the one involving comedian Pierre Palmade falls under the law of July 5, 1985, known as the Badinter law. This text was adopted when France had known, for several years, a real “hecatomb” on its roads (more than 10,000 deaths that year).
Establishing a specific legal regime for victims of accidents involving “land motor vehicles” (cars, motorcycles, snow groomers, etc.), the law aims to facilitate and speed up their compensation, by giving a hand to insurers.
