Pierre Palmade affair: Mimie Mathy speaks for the first time, “it’s unforgivable”

The Pierre Palmade affair provoked reactions from many celebrities, close or not to the 55-year-old comedian. Anne-Elisabeth Blateau, Véronique Genest, Muriel Robin and Jean-Michel Aphatie all shared their feelings in the media after the terrible road accident caused by the actor on February 10 in Villiers-en-Bière, while he was driving under the influence of drugs, sending four people, including himself, to hospital. Ten months after the tragedy, it’s Mimie Mathy’s turn to break the silence, in an interview given to Figaroahead of his appearance on the show As an aside on Canal+ this evening of Monday December 4. As a reminder, the star of Joséphine, guardian angel worked in 1994 with the sidekick of Michèle Laroque, who helped her write her first one-woman show called Mimie at the Splendidplayed until 1996.

Our colleagues wanted to know if their interlocutor remained close to Pierre Palmade after this artistic collaboration. “I was not as close to him as Muriel Robin”, began Mimie Mathy. And to continue without even the newspaper alluding to the accident: What he did is unforgivable but he pays for it himself. It’s a shame that it caused inconvenience to a family who hadn’t asked for anything.” On board the vehicle he hit head-on were a 38-year-old man, his 6-year-old son and his 27-year-old sister-in-law, who was seven months pregnant and whose baby did not survive. Both father and son suffered serious injuries. “He’s not someone close to me, there are too many things that bother me, continued Mimie Mathy. I wish him only good, I especially wish him to get through it because it’s not easy to take responsibility for what he did and I would rather be in my place than in his.”

When will Pierre Palmade be judged?

Pierre Palmade left the Paul-Brousse hospital in Villejuif, where he was in intensive care after having a stroke, for the University Hospital Center (CHU) of Bordeaux, integrating the follow-up care and rehabilitation service. Still placed under judicial supervision, he left the hospital on May 6, 2023 and moved to the suburbs of Bordeaux, in a neighborhood on the edge of Bègles, close to his family. Still free under judicial supervision, the comedian is following a medical protocol to wean himself from his drug consumption. His trial is expected to take place in 2024, especially since the investigation into the accident has been completed since November 13, according to information from RTL. The radio indicated that the investigating judge at the judicial court of Melun, in Seine-et-Marne, issued her notice of end of investigation and transmitted the file to the public prosecutor’s office for requisition, on November 10.
