This Tuesday, the Paris Court of Appeal ordered the release of actor Pierre Palmade who had been placed in pre-trial detention on February 27. The comedian had caused a serious road accident under the influence of cocaine on February 10.

The Paris Court of Appeal on Tuesday ordered the release under judicial supervision of comedian Pierre Palmade, who had been placed in pre-trial detention on February 27 following a road accident under the influence of the cocaine, a judicial source told AFP. The investigating judge of Melun in Seine-et-Marne in charge of the investigation into the road accident ordered his release on Monday but the prosecution filed a summary detention, which had the effect of suspending this decision.

However “by a decision today, the magistrate appointed by the first president of the Paris Court of Appeal decided not to extend this suspension and ordered the release of Pierre Palmade”, declared the judicial source. The investigating chamber of the Paris Court of Appeal will rule on Friday at 9 a.m. on the appeal of the prosecution, added this source.

Indicted for homicide and involuntary injuries

On February 10, on a departmental road in Seine-et-Marne, Pierre Palmade was driving a car that hit a vehicle coming in front. In addition to the actor, the accident left three seriously injured: a 38-year-old man, his 6-year-old son and his 27-year-old sister-in-law, who lost the baby she was expecting after the collision.

In police custody, the 54-year-old comedian admitted to having consumed cocaine and synthetic drugs, before driving, according to the Melun prosecution. He was indicted for homicide and involuntary injuries by driver having used narcotics in a state of legal recidivism. The investigation continues under the aegis of an investigating judge.
