Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire: The Switch port would have been canceled by Evil Nine

Available on PC since 2018 and on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One since 2020, Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, the famous isometric RPG developed by Obsidian Entertainment, was also supposed to release on Nintendo Switch at an unknown date. Bad news, it seems that this is no longer the case since Evil Nine would have renounced marketing the game on the Japanese console.

A very discreet cancellation?

Versus Evil has canceled Pillars of Eternity 2 on Switch from NintendoSwitch

As a Reddit user claimed a few days ago, the cancellation of the Switch port would have been formalized by an employee of the American publisher on Discord. In this message posted on February 27, we could a priori read this: ” Hello everyone ! Unfortunately, after careful consideration, we have decided not to continue our work on Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire for the Nintendo Switch. »

According to Nintendo Life, this choice could be motivated by the fact that the company encountered technical difficulties on the Switch port of Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition. Pointing to the platform itself to explain their presence, the company even stopped publishing updates last year when several issues had still not been corrected.

Note that you have to be extremely careful with this potential cancellation because, in addition to having obviously been announced in a particularly discreet way, we have not been able to find the Discord message at the origin of this information. However, if you go to the official Evil Nine website, you will find that Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire has pages dedicated to its PC, PS4 and Xbox One versions but not Nintendo Switch.
