Pirates of the Caribbean: how much did this cult saga earn?

While M6 will broadcast two episodes of the cult Pirates of the Caribbean saga on Sunday April 24, 2022, from 9:05 p.m., Télé Star reveals the incredible amount of money that this film franchise has brought in over the years.

While TF1 and France 2 both will offer a special live evening devoted to the second round of the presidential election Sunday April 24, 2022 in prime time, M6 decided to implement counter-programming. If the channel will obviously mention the name of the future winner of the presidential election in a special edition of its television newsbroadcast from 7:45 p.m., viewers will then be treated to a cinema evening 100% devoted to the saga Pirates of the Caribbean. In effect, M6 will air two episodes of the acclaimed film franchise starting at 9:05 p.m. First of all, this is the 5th and last part to date, baptized Salazar’s Revengewhich will air in prime time.

In the process, viewers of the 6th channel will have the opportunity to rediscover the 3rd opus of the original trilogy, entitled Till the end of the world. Released 10 years apart, in 2017 and 2007 respectively, these two feature films were huge commercial successes during their theatrical release. Thereby, Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge has raised nearly $795 million in revenue worldwide, for a production budget of $230 million. On his side, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End cost more to produce, but also made more money. With a production budget of $300 million, it grossed over $963 million at the worldwide box office.

Pirates of the Caribbean: One of the highest-grossing film franchises of all time

As for the other films in the saga, this is the first opus ofPirates of the Caribbean (The Curse of the Black Pearl) which cost the least to produce, but also made the least money. With a production budget of around $140 million, it raked in over $654 million in revenue during its theatrical run in 2003. Released in cinemas 3 years later, the 2nd part of the franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean: Secret of the Cursed Chesthas raised over $1 billion in revenuefor a production budget of $225 million.

A feat repeated by the 4th opus of the saga, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tideswho has raised almost as much money as the 2nd installment when it was released in theaters in 2011, but with a higher production budget ($250 million). In total, the franchise Pirates of the Caribbean admittedly cost $1.145 billion to produce, but brought in $4.51 billion in revenue for its producers.
