“Hold for Me” and “Call Screening” were disabled on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, the fault of a bug spotted in the last update of December. Since their release, the Pixel 6 has racked up a lot of software anomalies.
New setbacks for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Very well received by the editorial staff for their exceptional quality / price ratio, the latest high-end phones from Google nevertheless encounter many difficulties in stabilizing and offering a user experience worthy of the name.
Indeed, the bugs have multiplied in recent weeks, forcing the American group to correct the situation via a series of updates – not always conclusive. Between a slow or unusable fingerprint sensor, not-so-fast fast charging, and problems with the network or the weather widget, that’s a lot.
Reverse
Bad news: the descent into hell continues. As reported XDA Developers, the Mountain View firm was forced to deactivate two very practical features for both the Pixel 6 and its Pro version. The two functions in question are called “Hold For Me” and “Call Screening”, exclusive to the Pixel range.
The first is when you call a service or business that puts you on hold. Instead of gently waiting with your device glued to your ear to listen to the famous little music on hold, “Hold For Me” allows you to put your phone down and notify you via an alert when the person on the phone is ready for you. speak.
Call Screening, on the other hand, redirects a phone call to Google Assistant when it considers it unwanted. A good way to save yourself an unnecessary call by managing these kinds of interactions directly for you. On paper, that’s fine: except that these two functions are no longer available.
New bug
Why ? This is due to a bug spotted in the last Android update deployed by Google. The affected version number is: SQ1D.211205.016.A4. To check if you’re affected, go to Settings> System> About phone> Build number.
If the number build does not match the one mentioned above, then nothing will change. Otherwise, we will have to wait for another patch from the company to get everything back to normal. Remember that “Hold For Me” was first deployed in the United States and then in Canada, but not yet in France.
