The Pixel 6 are temporarily deprived of two very practical software features. Following the December update and its multiple bugs, Google found itself forced to deactivate the Hold for Me and Call Screening options.
In early December, Google launched the deployment ofa major update on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. With the firmware, the Silicon Valley giant was mainly looking to correct all the bugs that have appeared on the two smartphones since their release, such as the bug of random calls or malfunctions related to the fingerprint reader.
Unfortunately, the update contains its share of bugs. According to online testimonials, one of the bugs in the December update even prevents some users from making calls or sending text messages. Apparently, the mobile connection drops regularly for no apparent reason.
The bugs continue on the Pixle 6: Google is forced to block 2 options!
That’s not all. A bug in the firmware comes fromforce Google to temporarily disable two of the software features pixels 6. “In light of a bug in the December Android update, we are disabling Hold For Me and Call Screening on Pixel 6 devices”, announces a Google executive on a support page online this Wednesday, December 22, 2021. If you have not installed the update, both options remain available on your phone.

Hold for me is a feature that lets Google Assistant wait for you if a business or switchboard puts you on hold. When the voice assistant detects that the music on hold stops or that a pre-recorded message signals the return of a person, it will notify you by means of a notification.
For his part, Call Screening is a phone call filtering system. The voice assistant determines if it is indeed a person, and what is the purpose of the call, before accepting the communication. “Our teams are actively working to resolve this problem”, assures Google. The Mountain View giant is committed to reactivating the features as soon as its teams have corrected the situation.
