Pixel 7 overpriced, Samsung bad in photos and useless connected watches… the editorial staff gets wet with its unpopular opinions

At Frandroid, everyone has clear opinions on various types of products, technologies or other features. Opinions sometimes converge, but also oppose each other. That’s why we’ve compiled the main “Unpopular Opinions” of the editorial staff into a second-degree full video.

120 Hz screens are useless “. ” I don’t like smartwatches “. ” Google Pixels are overrated“. Yes, at Frandroid, not everyone shares the same opinion on everything. Quite the contrary. Debates and oratorical contests continue to punctuate our weeks during exchanges that are as benevolent as they are instructive.

The editorial video department therefore had fun compiling our main “Unpopular opinions”, these points of view that could literally be described as unpopular, divisive, in a video full of second degree and bad faith, but above all fun.

It is also an opportunity for us to take the temperature with our readers, through mini surveys that you will find below. Each survey corresponds to a unpopular opinion presented in the video.

The Nintendo Switch is the best console

Titouan is categorical. For him, the Nintendo Switch is the best console. And this, for several reasons: a price lower than 300 euros, a hybrid aspect, ideal for young people and older – and a small Zelda which closes the debate. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X, of course, do not box in the same category both in terms of price and power. Finally, the target is probably not the same.

I don’t care about security on smartphones

Arnaud literally has none nothing to f ** be » smartphone security. Because Arnaud is a beinggenerous on datas”, in his words. Cookies, photos, he doesn’t sense danger anywhere. An opinion that you may or may not share. After all, a smartphone can combine your bank card as well as your vital card now. In short, a small digital wallet that should surely be well secured to avoid any mishap. In the name of the entire editorial staff: don’t do like Arnaud.

I don’t like the always-on mode

The always-on mode has existed for many years on Android smartphones. On iPhones, it only made its appearance late – in September 2022 with the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. But for Chloe, it “no use“. Just tap on your phone to check the time. So, for you, is it amust haveor a futile feature?

Touch ID is better than Face ID

For Robin, Apple’s Touch ID is much better than Face ID. Because after all, just put your finger on the place provided for this purpose to unlock your phone, even if it is flat on a table. While Face ID requires you to wear your iPhone at face height – unless you have a small support that keeps it vertical, hello Manu. And you, what team are you part of?

I don’t like smartwatches

Omar is a loving man. But Omar does not necessarily appreciate connected watches, awearablethat he doesn’t find really useful on a day-to-day basis. On the other hand, if you like to see data related to your health right at the end of your wrist, it can be very practical. Just like paying contactless with Apple Pay or Google Pay, for example.

I hate Samsung photos

It’s well known. Samsung smartphones tend to saturate and renderflashythe colors of the captured photos. This has the merit of having its small visual effect, to the detriment of a final rendering that is sometimes less natural. For Anthony, this is clearly unacceptable. And for you ? In any case, Samsung is used to winning our big photo comparison at the end of each year…

Voice assistants are useless

Do you use voice assistants on a daily basis, at home with your home automation or spontaneously with your phone? In any case, Guillaume considers them useless whatever happens, between the relevance of their uses and the latency of certain assistants – Google is notably cited – to respond to a request. A topic that is debated, with us as probably with you.

I love Salto

Cassim is courageous and does not hesitate to assume his little crushes: he likes the Salto platform, which he considers to be a very good service, especially for watching shows likeTop chef. All at a very reasonable price. Nevertheless, according to the latest news, Salto should probably disappear in the near future.

Google Pixels are overpriced

Are we doing too much with Google’s Pixel phones? Are we highlighting them too much? At least that’s what Titouan thinks, which has found many bugs at launch despite excellent value for money. But above all, the number of major Android updates remains a big black spot: three years, when the competition (Samsung, Oppo, OnePlus) does better. So, do you think Pixels are a little too popular?

Android updates are better than iOS updates

Here’s one that really gets wet! For Manu, Android updates are better than iOS. In the collective imagination, one might think that Android phones are not as updated as Apple’s. This is not necessarily the case, especially since many manufacturers of Android smartphones are increasingly putting the package in this area.

Long battery life is better than fast charging

For Anthony, it is better to have a very durable smartphone, capable of holding two days and limited to a slow charge, than a less autonomous phone, but carrying a fast charge. Except that yes, Anthony uses an iPhone 13 Pro Max considered one of the best in terms of autonomy. Finally, two schools oppose each other: it’s up to everyone to choose their side.

I like Free

Does Omar have it all figured out? You have two hours. The fact is that our deputy editor feels grateful to the operator. Why ? Because it is thanks to him that our telephone plans are not expensive. They are in any case much more affordable than elsewhere in Europe. “But it should work“Blows Titouan.

I don’t care about 120 Hz on smartphones

It’s useless, judge Arnaud about the 120 Hz mode on smartphones. As a reminder, this refresh rate brings this famous feeling of fluidity to use. It arrived late on the iPhone – thanks to the ProMotion of the iPhone 13 Pro –, although it is already democratized on many Android phones. Once tested, definitely adopted? It’s up to you.
