Google justifies the 7 years of Pixel 8 updates
It’s during the podcast Made by Google that Seang Chau reversed the decision to deploy updates for the Pixel 8 for 7 years. For what ? The reason is simple: there are still many people using the first Pixel launched in 2016. This is therefore a period of time during which the manufacturer anticipates that users will continue to use its latest smartphone.
Unsurprisingly, these 7 years of support for the Pixel 8 are possible thanks to the Tensor SoC designed by Google. Seang Chau explains that the Mountain View firm’s success in sustaining software updates relies on this chip. All in collaboration with other industry players and rigorous laboratory tests by its teams.
