The camera of the Google Pixel 8 (Pro) will probably get a new main sensor. According to a supposed Google insider, we can expect even more innovations.

- An insider at Google is said to have spoken about the features and hardware of the Google Pixel 8 (Pro).
- According to him, some components, such as the main camera, have been updated compared to their predecessors.

Mobile phone manufacturers usually keep a low profile when it comes to products that have not yet been released. This is also the case with the Google Pixel 8 (Pro). Nevertheless, official-looking details about the successor to the Pixel 7 (Pro) are now circulating online.
Cameras get an update
These are said to come from a source directly at Google who is said to have spoken to the Android Authority about Google’s next generation of smartphones. We can probably expect some improvements. It starts with the main sensor used. The ISOCELL GN2 with 50 megapixels is used.
The other cameras will also receive an update. According to the source, a Sony IMX787 with 64 megapixels can be found in the ultra-wide camera of the Pixel 8 Pro. In the Pixel 7a, this acts as the main camera. In the basic model, on the other hand, the sensor from the Pixel 6 should continue to be used.
However, there should also be components that will not receive an update. According to the insider, both the telephoto camera with five times the zoom level and the front camera remain at the level of the Pixel 7 (Pro).
software and autofocus
At least in the Pro model, a new sensor should be installed that makes the autofocus more reliable. It is the 8×8 Time of flight VL53L8. The base model, on the other hand, retains the sensor that was already used on the Pixel 6.

On the software side, there should be a feature called “Adaptive torch”, which ensures that the flash adjusts dynamically depending on the image mode and scenery. With “Segmentation AWB”, image sections are to be divided into segments with artificial intelligence. This would then allow them to be edited in a targeted manner.
