Pixel 8a: not yet official, Google’s next smartphone is already showing itself in an advertisement

Over the years, the Mountain View firm has demonstrated its expertise in smartphone design. The Pixels are good devices, capable of convincing experts and novices alike. However, if there is one area in which the American firm is a little less adept, it is in its ability to keep its next releases secret.

For example, while it hasn’t been officially announced yet, the Pixel 8a is already firmly in our minds and we have an idea of its specs, design, and even price. If all the information disclosed so far should obviously be taken with a grain of salt, as long as Google has not really communicated on it, we can anticipate a presentation without any big surprises.

Casting error or well-executed teaser?

Especially since the Pixel 8a is already featured in an advertisement for the mobile plan from the overseas firm Fi Wireless. The identity of the device is not specified, but certain differences between its design and that of its big brothers are perceptible, notably in terms of certain finishes, its thinner camera block or even the absence of microphone on this last.

Of course, this could all be the result of rework from an overzealous graphic designer. However, the various details revealed in the ad are strongly reminiscent of those already highlighted during the first leaks of the Pixel 8a visual. If caution is required, it seems difficult to deny that we are dealing with Google’s next device.

Is this a blunder or are we the targets of a hell of a prank? Both are possible, and in any case, that’s not the important thing. If all goes as planned, the Pixel 8a will be announced next month at the upcoming Google I/O conference. And it looks like the Mountain View giant’s teams are in the starting blocks to present it to us.
