Pixel 9: surprise! Not two, but three smartphones are reportedly in preparation at Google

Google would offer three models for its next range of smartphones Pixel 9. In addition to the classic model and the Pro model, a third XL version would be offered to consumers.

The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are almost six months old, but it’s time for Google to think about what’s next. The Google Pixel 9 are already in development, for a presentation which should probably take place at the end of September or the beginning of October 2024. Building on the good sales figures for the Pixel 8 range, with nearly 10 million copies sold in just a few weeks, the search engine seems to want to accelerate and offer more phones this year. A new rumor today indicates that the Mountain View manufacturer could unveil three new models, with a brand new Pixel with an XXL screen.

Last January, we were able to see some renderings of the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro, which suggested a renewal in terms of design. The photo block, which crosses the back of the Pixel 8, should be modified and replaced by a new block with rounded shapes. The smartphone would also inherit rounded edges and flat edges, like the iPhone 15s today.

Only the 91Mobiles site tells us today that these visuals give an overview of the design of the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL. Google would indeed have a variant of its most advanced model in its pipeline, which would be equipped with a 6.5-inch screen. The classic Pixel 9 Pro would have a smaller 6.1-inch screen, and would thus inherit a better grip. The classic Pixel 9 would also benefit from a 6.03-inch screen.

The technical specifications of the Google Pixel 9 are also more precise. The phone would inherit a design similar to the Pixel 9 Pro, with a new photo block that is less prominent and has rounded edges. Two photo sensors would be included, probably with a wide-angle and an ultra-wide-angle.

The smartphone would integrate the Google Tensor G4, the latest mobile processor developed internally by Google teams. It should also benefit from fast wireless charging, by adopting the Qi2 standard, a technology similar to that used by Apple with the MagSafe standard.

Since Google doesn’t know how to keep its secrets, there is no doubt that we should learn a lot more about these three new smartphones in the coming weeks.
