Pixel War: After the war makes way for the final rendering in ultra HD

After the incredible event that was what is now called “Pixel War”, many Internet users admiring this immense virtual fresco have chosen to seek and offer free access to different versions of it. Of course, it was the final work that mainly attracted the crowds, but not only!

A High Definition version of the Reddit Place

Although the little virtual war waged by thousands of Internet users during the first weekend of April 2022 is over, this has not prevented some fans of the event from offering many more or less finalized versions of the so famous fresco.

On the Reddit Place, a version in 6K resolution is thus available and has already given the idea to some to print it in order to make a table. We find there most of the works before the great final attack of the evening of Monday April 4, 2022 where many works were soiled, in particular the French-speaking ones for reasons that we now all know.

Isn’t that ultimately “the spirit of Reddit Place”?

An annotated catalog of the fresco

Ideas have been pouring in constantly since the end of the event, sometimes completely eccentric and even hilarious, and other times in order to preserve and leave a trace of this international heritage created by several hundred thousand Internet users for a weekend.

It’s on the r/placeAtlas that fans had the idea of creating a catalog of all the works created during the 2022 edition of Reddit Place. It is entirely collaborative and subject to the objectivity of the participants: the idea is not to bicker over details, but to provide information on each of the works that have been created so that anyone can have access to it and know that such an event existed.

A great initiative!

Areas most impacted by Pixel War

Finally, the videographer Mehdi Mousaid at the origin of the YouTube channel “Fouloscopy” proposed not only a time lapse of the South-West region of the canvas, the one dedicated to the Francophonie, from its creation until the end of the event, but also and above all a graph revealing the frequency of color change of each pixel throughout the event.

Obviously and without great surprise, it is the French flag in the South-West which has suffered the main repeated attacks. But we can especially and above all also note that the “Métis Flag of Canada” in the very North also suffered serious problems before succeeding in imposing itself: many trolls attacked it on many occasions!

And yet this is only a tiny part of what the community has been able to create since the closure of the offline fresco on the night of Monday April 4 to Tuesday April 5, 2022!

During the first weekend of April 2022, hundreds of thousands of Internet users around the world chose to engage in a real virtual war with great pixel attacks and virtual drawings. This is called the “Pixel War”, or “Pixel War”, an already historic phenomenon.
